| The AVISTA RESORT is affiliated with Grande Shores. It’s a very new hotel with modern furnishings. The rooms are nicely furnished, the staff is friendly and the amenities are plentiful. The one and only item on the negative side is a somewhat higher cost (depending on the time of year). That can certainly be a good choice and the trade-off for newer accommodations. |
| A Review from Elizabeth of Toronto, Canada Hi Jack I promised to send you a review of our stay at the Avista. Here it is. My husband and I loved our stay at the Avista and will definitely stay there again. We stayed at the Avista in the week before Christmas 2006. We booked a 1BR oceanfront room with King bed, and when we were shown the suite, the bedroom was large but it had no windows, no natural light, and was basically a black box on the inside of the unit. Not the best layout! We were offered a look at an oceanview suite with 2 double beds, and after viewing it, we accepted the change. This suite was a corner unit (Suite 1032) and had a big balcony off both the LR and the BR. The kitchen was very well-equipped with niceties like a wine opener, and had good quality utensils (NOT from the dollar store). Even the crockery was nice- not the usual 1 thick industrial stuff. We got fresh dishcloths and drying towels each day too. There was a combined washer/dryer unit off the kitchen unit we used only once: the cycle took over 3 hours, and we found that our clothes did not get particularly clean. We used the big machines in the hotels Guest Laundry room for other washing. The washers were inexpensive, and the dryers actually dried! One dry cycle was more than enough for each load. My one so-so-minor complaint is that the fan in the bathroom was very loud and was not on a separate switch, so every time you wanted light in the bathroom, you got the super-loud fan noise as well. The staff at the Avista were unfailingly polite and helpful. There is free Internet Access from a PC in the Concierges area- 15 minute limit- and one night manager even gave us a better route north to I-95 than Mapquest offered! We have stayed at many condo properties in North Myrtle Beach, and we liked this one the best. We would recommend the Avista 100%- at least in the week before Christmas, when they werent very busy. Hope that helps! Elizabeth W., Toronto, Canada |
